Regardless of whether you support the war or not, the fact remains that the government of Iraq was toppled by US lead coalition forces. As a result, the US must now ensure that the newly formed government is capable of standing on its own before it can pull its forces out. Given the current situation in Iraq, many feel that more troops are needed to help crush the continued insurgents in the region.
On the Pro Side:
- More troops would likely yield a quicker desired result.
- Help boost moral of current US forces currently stationed in Iraq
- Demoralize the insurgent forces still operating within Iraq.
On the Con side:
- More troops equals more cost in US resources (i.e. lives, money, equipment.)
- We're not pulling out anytime soon.
- Further damage to International reputation.
Some of the current debate going on concerning the war involves the effect on international terrorism. On one side of the argument, if the US pulls out too early, the Iraqi government will collapse and we'll end up with a second Iran. This would in turn give way to more terrorism, as there would be one more country to fund such activities.
On the other side of the argument, the fact that the war as taken place has already angered much of the Middle East, and will fuel terrorist activities for many years to come. Hence, whether we pull out early or not is a non issue, as international terrorism will rise regardless of Iraq's success.
A study was recently done that seems to underscore this last point, however it may still be too early to tell who's right. It may be a few decades down the road before we realize the full impact of this war.

As previously stated by a number of military personnel, including General Petrais, there is no military solution in Iraq. Everyone but Bush, Cheney and Rice know this.
More troops = more dead Americans.

each little thing that occurs, whether to human beings, to worldwide places, or despite the fact that, is in God's plans. there's a reason in the back of each little thing, we do exactly no longer continuously realize it on the time. there are such a good number of lies going around with reference to the conflict...and the biggest culprits are the media. They tell the liberals what they choose to hearken to...in no way concepts the reality. and you suck all of it in! The Bible even tells us approximately this time, whilst there will be wars and rumors of wars, and lots extra this is definitely happening now! And it is not "egocentric" to have a infant with downs! It got here approximately, and she or he knew that for some reason God needed this to happen. Many different women persons might have completed a similar element (different than the liberals...they had homicide it and not employing a theory!). you are the egocentric ones! God knows who's mendacity and who's honest. that's all that concerns...he's the only we will ought to respond to to .

I've just posted something about this on my blog. You can read it there. It is my thoughts on why any number of troops won't help the situation.
