YES!! The Fittings DO NOT need to be copper. Brass and Stainless steel will both work with copper.

Yes you can buy compression fittings with nuts and compression rings and they work just fine.

Yes you can, they have to be brass, with what is known as an "olive" which is a compression ring, and you can tighten them with a spanner. That is for U.K. or Aus'.
But not for underground use.

Yes. The fittings have to be copper, and you need a powered crimping tool.
