Although most witchcraft is posed as good, and many of the people who practice it, intend it for good, as Christians we believe that the only force for good comes from God, and that seeking power, knowledge, etc from alternative sources takes our dependence and attention away from God; thus we believe that it is negative.
However, there is no reason for us to get particularly upset as that "anger" also has the potential to have negative consequences in both our relationship with God and others.

For the same reason a parent becomes upset when his child skips school.
For the same reason a person becomes upset when his friend gets addicted to heroin.
For the same reason a man would become upset to come home and find out his wife is having an affair.
A Christian does not fear Wicca because God is with him. But Christ tasked us to watch over and care for our brothers and sisters. We become upset when we see Wiccans being led down the path to spiritual death by the seductive temptations of sin.
Wicca is akin to a teenager rebelling against the authority of a parent. It has a mystique and allure that attracts people. It is different and bucks traditional values. It makes them feel special and gives them the illusion of having power. But the spells are only psychological suggestions and are no more real than astrological horoscopes. It is a mirage, and like so many desert travelers, Wiccans will crawl deeper and deeper into it chasing the mirage. But in the end, they will find that it is an empty vessel that will fail them. We know this and that is why we are upset.
Perhaps you are a Wiccan? I will pray for you. My prayers can not change you, but He can.
There is only one way, and that is Christ. He is waiting, and He will always love you, no matter how far down you fall. Can your spirits say that?
When Wicca fails you, remember what you have read. He asks so little and offers so much. But His offer will not last forever.
There are many of us who can help you, but you have to take the first step. If you take that step, we will help you take all the others and catch you if you fall.

As opposed to those who say it's wrong and walk away, here's what I found in the Bible about witchcraft, magic, and spells.
Deuteronomy 18:9-12
Isaiah 47:8-15
Acts 8:9, 12-13, 20-22
Acts 13:6-10
2 Kings 21:6
I know some of these verses don't talk directly about using magic to pray, but I do know that all the verses I found on the subject spoke against magic and spells and witchcraft. Can I ask what your scriptural basis for it is? You can e-mail me at seth.p@centrum.cz. I really am curious and open to what you have to say.

It pretty much is the same thing. The power comes from the mind. This is verifiable by doing an electroencephalogram on praying christians and spellcasting wiccans. The results are of a very high order of similarity.
If anything happens as a result of the prayer or spell it is through psychic energy transfer via the method of sympathetic vibration. The notional conduit of 'god' or 'spell' is simply a mental focussing device.

"get so upset" ? Ha, I don't get upset, unless I would find one of them doing that
garbage in my home, then they'll be shown the door, and will probably have to remove some of their spell-stuff from their ***;
but if its not in my home, I don't get upset,
as a matter of fact this very thing really happened to me: (true story)
A wiccan guy in our neighborhood told me that he was putting a spell on me that would make me very, very sorry that I didn't believe in wiccan magic. He was deadly
serious. About a week later, I went to a special luncheon with others at my office, to a restaurant/bar, where lo and behold there was the wiccan guy sitting at the bar.
He got up and began to approach me with
his arms waving and saying something - I don't really know what - but he tripped over
nothing, fell, hit his head on the table,
causing it to bleed, and broke his forearm,
elbow and wrist.
I'm still awaiting the horrors of his spell.
Let me give this to you in plain terms:
Yes, there are spiritual forces in existance,
both positive and negative, so its not that
I don't believe in them, but anytime you wish to present them against the Living
God, or His children, you are wasting your time at best, or at worst, doing yourself
damage. That I guarantee you.

"What is Witchcraft?" I've asked it for years and haven't gotten a single definition.... all I get is "the Bible says it's Rebellion". Well, so is telling your parents off, but that hardly makes it witchcraft, now does it? =) What they go off of is the propaganda that has been flowing since the Inquisitions and that book the Malleus Maleficarum, which has all kinds of superstitious nonsense about witches and women (and how to torture them *shiver*) They really have no idea of what they are even talking against. Most of the time, they're repeating superstitions that have long been debunked (some of it by the very Church that started the Inquisition - yep, they admitted to being WRONG about it) Now if we can just get the rest of them to catch up with the info.... *sigh*

Come one, would the wiccans be happy if they saw a bunch of Christians building up some commemorative pyre?... From a Christian pt of view, the wiccans &co don't worship just some "idol", but serve the Enemy, so of course that they get upset.

Not all Christians do. Personally, I couldn't care less. I know what Wicca is, and what it's not. I used to BE Wiccan, until a couple years ago.

How is it the same as prayer? My understanding is that in a spell, you make someone do something or feel a certain way against their will. When I pray, I pray for God's will to be done. Prayer is not done for my personal benefit and gain.

It is not the same.... the Wiccan God is mush older, the new fangled christians just want everyone to be just like them. Intolerance is a crime against humanity. What entity you ask and how you ask for spiritual help is your business.
