Sometimes, if I drink enough or the right combination of alcohol, I'll forget parts of the night, just basically things I said, parts of conversations or people I spoke with. Don't worry, this isn't something I set out to do but it has happened before. My question is, will smoking weed, if you smoke enough of it have the same effect. Will it make you forget parts of the night like conversations and such. Not a big deal just curious if anyone has had that experience. Not passing out or anything, just not recalling the little things the next day.

Smoking pot can affect short term memory while you are high. This is the cause of losing one's train of thought mid-conversation. It is completely reversible once you are straight. The effect is very short term, and you will remember what you were doing and all the major stuff that occurred while high. You'll probably even remember the conversation you were having when your mind switched gears on you and you lost that thought in the middle of a sentence. It does not kill brain cells. Recent research suggests it may even promote the growth of new brain cells and may help to prevent Alzheimer's as a result. As for passing out, worst case if you smoke too much, you'll probably just fall asleep.

Yes. Both alcohol and pot destroy parts of the brain especially in the memory sections of the hypothalamus. That's why people who drink or smoke pot are many times more likely to get Alzheimer's and dementia at a younger age than people who don't. Whether we admit it or not, both are causing brain damage and it will show, especially when you're older and you need your brain the most.

when I was younger and used to smoke quite a bit, it was weird I would have things I would know/remember when I was high that I wouldn't when I was sober. very surreal.
