We all will eventually go that way.

Then everything else will die. It's a simple chain reaction. When the fish die, other people die because its their only source of food. Others who are more resourceful go for chicken, beef or whatever meat. But since everyone wants those now, it'll eventually get scarce and extinction once again. It's a cycle that leads to the end of everything(not just people).

the algae and microbes that perform photosynthesis produce more oxygen than all of the trees on the planet, so if they die, so does all other oxygen breathing life.
