Anything in addition to faith in Jesus Christ as being required for salvation is a works-based salvation. To add ANYTHING to the Gospel is to say that Jesus' death on the cross was not sufficient to purchase our salvation. To say that we must be baptized in order to be saved is to say that we must add our own good works and obedience to Christ's death in order to make it sufficient for salvation. Jesus' death alone paid for our sins (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus' payment for our sins is appropriated to our "account" by faith alone (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, baptism is an important step of obedience after salvation, but cannot be a requirement for salvation.

Hello, Saharah:

Jesus says in John 3:5 "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

But, if you read Jesus' commentary further, he says that one will be judged by the light they have received. In other words, people who have never heard of, or rejected, baptism can be saved. Jesus was baptized, not because he sinned and needed a savior, but for those who never had the opportunity to publically confess Him through baptism.

A link below discusses extensively how one is saved or lost.

Their vital organs shut down and all brain activity ceases, just like every living thing will do and how everything has done for billions of years. Being baptised does not change that.

You can ask the thief on the cross. Jesus said, "Today you will be with me in Paradise." Yet all he did was believe on Jesus for his salvation.

it depends on who they had faith in... baptism does not automatically 'save' someone, many people are misguided to believe that tho. thinking that we as parents can 'save' our children by having them sprinkled.

the important thing is to entrust your lives to Jesus Christ... to call upon Him for His saving Grace... to confess and repent of our sins and ask forgiveness of the Father... and to form a relationship with Jesus, surrendering our selfish desires to follow God's will for our lives... that is what saves someone
