My beagle mix had to have her anal glands expressed about 1 or 2 weeks ago. They recommended that we bring her in every month since her's were pretty backed up. However, last night she was laying with me and when I got up there was a little wet spot that smelled very foul and was the same smell that we noticed prompting us to take her into the vet. Could she really have a problem with them again since she just had them expressed? Do you think this is an issue? I have owned other dogs and never did they have this odor/seepage/anal express thing! I feel bad for her. Since it reoccured so soon do you think she has a severe problem and should I call the vet?

She is eating Natural Balance dog food...would something else help with her anal glands? She also has since we got her tons of gas that would clear a room!

Some dogs have lots of problems with the glands and some never have any at all.
Small dogs who are more likely to eat a soft diet have more problems.
Feeding a dry diet helps as when the dog goes the poo presses on the glands and helps to empty them.
If your dog has chronic infections or impactions you can have the glands removed but be very sure the person doing the surgery has done it before and successfully. As it can cause problems with bowels if not done carefullly.
I have a client who had his female weimaraners glands removed as she got infections all the time and she is now fine with no issues at all.

I have never actually experienced this in the entire 20 years i have owned dogs? The only time i have ever noticed problems with anal glands was my doberman pup whenever she got a real fright. I just found out some more on the problem and one suggestion was changing to a higher fibre diet, for firmer stools to help with the process naturally. Other than that it said that dogs sometimes need 2-3 expressions to empty them fully.

Instead of your vet recommending that you keep bringing your dog back to do anal glands, he should have shown you how to do it yourself. It's not very difficult (although it's disgusting) and it doesn't require special medical knowledge.
There are dogs that develop chronic problems with their anal glands (they need to have them expressed regularly). In your case, see if your vet has any concerns about this problem in your dog. If not, just ask him to show you how to express the glands yourself and you won't have to go back to the vet all the time.
Good luck.

I would say take her back to the vet. It sounds like it is needing to be done again. A good vet will be able to teach you to do this at the house so that you do not have to waste time and money every few weeks.
