My face has been in a terrible state ever since I was 10. My face gets oily really easily, especially on the nose, resulting in my acne taking a long time to clear up. Is there any way to prevent acne from appearing, or at least slowing them down? Or any way to clear them up quicker?
By the way, I'm from Singapore - a tropical country. And I do artistic gymnastics so maybe I perspire a lot too? Does that affect the acne in any way?

Anything that I can find at home I can use? Cause I don't think I can find the products listed by all the wonderful people that took the time to answer my question, here in Singapore.

hopefully you can find this product in china..in usa it costs $5.
raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar
to open the pores and loosen dirt and grease from your face turn off the heat from a pan of distilled water, add 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar to a quart of the hot water. drape a towel over the pan and your head to steam clean your pores. take a cotton ball, dip in vinegar and pat over skin to remove loosened dirt. repeat 2 more times. then spray or dab on
chilled vinegar and equal part of distilled water to close your pores and tone your skin. do twice weekly, also can use the chilled vinegar water as a toner 2 times daily.
it is amazing ....
i also drink the vinegar, 1-2 tablespoons in water with honey in the morning..and i use the vinegar water as a toner 2 times daily..
raw unpasturized apple cider vinegar..
the following 2 testimonials can be seen at http://www.earthclinic.com/cures/acne.ht...
Angelina O, has found that applying ACV topically to her face several times a day (4 or more times) has cured her of a "very bad complexion". She reports that she applies it straight and that while it burns her skin a bit, it still works like a miracle!
Cheryl writes, "My daughter developed a case of moderate acne, and after trying a number of different things for over a year which helped very little or not at all, she started drinking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar three times a day and applying it topically once at night. She has been acne free for two months. It took about three weeks to clear up."
to drink, mix with water and honey, or apple juice.
you can get the vinegar at the health food store, or in some super markets.

Yeah I have the same condition as you: Oily skin around the nose and forehead and acne appears on the cheeks also. I am also a Singaporean so I understand how you feel. Yes sweat definitely clog your pores and cause break outs so it is important for you to wash your face every time after you perspire.
I used to use Neutrogena's skin clearing series and it has been quite good but sadly Singapore has stop ordering it forcing me to look for other products and I finally settled for Neostrata's series recommended by my doctor They have this toner which is known as oily skin solution which I find extremely good in controlling the oil on my face.
Also if you have really bad acne like I do, it will be better to visit a doctor. You don't need to visit a dermatologist or specialist first, visit your family doctor and see what she has to say. She might prescribe you an antibiotic or some topical creams that might help. I recommend asking about a cream known as Retin-A because it is a miracle cream. Besides helping me clear up my acne, it helps fade my acne scars and marks as well. Retin-A can only be used at night and you need a doctor to prescribe it.

Acne is a disease in your skin. You won't get rid of it with face products or by changing your diet. Its caused by hormones that are imbalanced in your body. When these hormones balance themselves out, your acne will disappear. That usually happens when you get older. In the meantime you can keep the acne under control. There are many prescription medications that your doctor can give you that will balance out your hormones that work well. Sometimes certain birth control pills are given to solve the problem. As well as taking the prescription medications you should have chemical peels done. They help the pustules to heal and they fade out the dark spots caused by the acne pustules. Don't pick at your face because that spreads the bacteria, which spreads the acne all over you face. Perspiration has nothing to do with it. The dermatologist who does the chemical peels will advise you as to what to use to cleanse and moisturize your face properly.

First of all perspiration does have an effect. The best way to control or help is to keep the skin free of oil. To do this you can buy stridex oil removal pads or use Witch Hazel, wet cotton balls with it and wipe you face right after gymnastic workout. Also you can make a paste from sea salt and a little alcohol and before bed scrub our face lightly with this and then rinse with cool water.
There any number of ache products on the market that also work.

One of my sons had a very bad time with acne well into his 20's and the only thing that cleared it up is when he started taking a vitamin supplement called VIBE by a company called ENIVA. It is a very good product and his face is totally cleared up. It is good for a host of other things too, check it out!

One thing that has helped me is yaz birth control pills. They have been FDA approved to treat acne. Sweat will clog your pores. Try Biore' pore clearing/refining products and Almay skin clearing foundation.Good luck!
