I was reading up on some reviews about Innova Evo, because I got my mom interested in feeding it to her Dobermans. Well, alot of the reviews I came across said that this food is recommended for large breeds because of the high protein content. But, some of the reviews were about owners feeding smaller breeds Innova Evo, like mini dacshunds, and a maltese. I have a Chihuahua and already ordered some for him. But, I am wondering if any of you have a small breed dog that is being fed Innova Evo, and if you are having any problems with them?...I am also getting a puppy Monday of next week and I ordered him some of the Innova small breed puppy food, so I know that will be alright for him. But, now I am not sure about my adult Chi that I am going to feed the Innova Evo to. Are any of you feeding your small dog Innova Evo and what are the ups and downs? Are there any problems with weight?

Yes, my dog is VERY active. He plays as much as he can. He will be 5 years old next month, and he still acts like a puppy. He plays almost all day long. Even when I get a break from tossing his toy for him to fetch...he will lay around for about an hour, then go get his toy for me to toss it for him again...He loves to be outside, and when he is, he will run around and explore the yard a little...But, he isn't out long so I let him in and he wants to play some more! Lol.

Innova Evo is actually one of the best quality foods on the market. It is one of only a couple foods that are based on a raw food diet...meaning no grains, high protein.

Small dogs are fine with high protein dogs, as long as they are active. I often recommend Evo to people who have sport/hunting dogs that are active all day long. Small dogs actually burn more calories per pound of body weight then a large breed dog so as long as you dog is healthy and gets a decent amount of exercise, I would definitely go for the Evo.

If you feel that your dog isn't that active then perhaps you might want to go with the Innova Small Bite. The regular Innova dog food has less protein and does contain rice and barley. It is still by far one of the best foods on the market.

I have sold this food for a number of years and have never heard complaints from small dog owners. Hope this helps.

that's a extreme protien content textile for doggies no longer small canines in spite of the indisputable fact that i might recommend the undeniable Innova Evo and not the beef. maximum canines which incorporates wild ones won't hunt for animals with beef yet will stick to smaller prey inclusive of rooster, rodents, small pigs, rabbit, and on occasion lamb. i might in basic terms recommend the RM for top potential chilly climate canines inclusive of huskies, malamutes, and wolf hybrids. the undeniable Innova Evo small bites is amazingly good for smaller canines. Plus, you would be able to desire to think with regard to the quantity of food you're feeding your canines. because of the fact the protien content textile is greater you may desire to no longer be feeding your canines the comparable quantity as you may a commercial form of food.

To translate the "no fill' claim it means it VERY calorie dense, so like lasagna , a diet of only that will pack on the pounds (regardless of the dogs size)if the amount is not limited. It IS VERY high protein, which makes most vets wince. I haven't heard of trouble (other than packing on pounds) but it's not been out for decades.....
