He said I am not Irish because I am Cuban. Is he racist? He is Latino too. I am so confused. What should I do?

You're only Irish if you or your ancestors come from Ireland. He's not bashing Cubans, if that's what you meant. Don't sweat it....everyone claims to be Irish at least one day out of the year here in the states. I'm also Mexican on Cinco de Mayo and an African-American for the month of February. Tell your boyfriend to relax and enjoy something green!

Are you Irish? If you have some Irish heritage as well as Cuban, then you are also Irish. If you don't have Irish heritage, then you obviously are not Irish. That is not a racist comment, though.
Many people like to pretend to be Irish around St. Patrick's Day. Perhaps that's why he didn't believe you?

You are both Latino, so obviously you are not Irish. If this is referring to the coming St. Paddy's day celebrations, he's probably telling you "don't be like those gringo Irishmen; be Cuban and be proud). In that sense, of course he's showing race preferences.

I doubt he is showing racism. He just doesn't believe that you can be Irish. It's just that your family has been Cuban for many many generations and you most likely do not look like an Irish person.

It is PC to say a minority can be racist. There are unwritten laws saying the only ones that can be called racist are us whiteys.

you're no longer over reacting. tell him you do no longer experience soft whilst he says those issues, do you have indian acquaintances? that ought to help him see that they are human beings only like him. i'm no longer indian, yet indian nutrition is SO good!
