When I lost my mother, I lost my entire childhood. The one person who tracked my growth from before I was born upto the time I became a mother is gone and with her all her memories. So it is really hard. But try as I might I cannot imagine how it would be to lose my child...that would be fate worse than death for me.

A mother loosing her child. It is the natural way of life that the child bury the parent, not the other way around.

There is always a part of a child prepared to loose a parent ...but nothing can prepare a mother for loosing her baby...I think both are so so so horrible in fact my four cousins just lost both thier parents and they are having a very hard time with it but they are in a very loving family now. And they are exelling. but a mother loosing her baby I think there is no overcoming it

There is no exact answer for that...you can't honestly judge a death based on the lose of a person. Maybe the mother was bad, or maybe the child was. That would make the less more apathetic then anything.

They're both terrible but I would have to say a child losing his mother is worse.
As a mother I cannot even imagine losing my child. However, as completely devastating as it would be, I'm an adult and could find ways to cope (I think). A child does not have this ability. AND needs his or her mother.

Both are tragic! But a mother is better equipped to deal with the loss. A child doesnt understand and needs that bond and love from his mother.

I don't think that you can really weigh either one as to which is worst. I can see it by both points, and both are equally as bad. especially if you are referring to the mother passing while the child is young as well. I would have been devastated had I lost my mother at a young age, as I would now as a grown woman. And I would be just as devastated with my child dying as well. I just don't think one is worse than the other, they are both horrific.
