There is the time change to consider.
Most likely it will be pushing 4-5 hours on the plane depending on winds.
Flying East to West you'll encounter stronger "headwinds" in the jet stream that slow the plane's actual (ground) speed.
So you never really know the exact duration of the flight.

Supersonic, maybe. The fastest non-stop I ever had between Atlanta and LA was 4.5 hours, usually a 5 hour trip. Ontario is about 50 miles east of LA, not a great time saver on a 2500 mile trip. It looks shorter because of the time change.

Its because of the time change. The arrival time is actually Pacific time, so the flight length is 4 and a half hours. On the return you get the opposite effect. It will appear that the flight is over 6 hours long.

Hell no. i'm from long sea coast, ca and that i miss it extra desirable than something. are not getting me incorrect, there are issues i like approximately Atlanta yet I even have been out right here for 3 years and that i count selection the days til I pass abode. that's unfolded like l. a. and there are various golf equipment. yet, each physique is very uptight, the 1st rate sea coast is 4 hours away and it somewhat is the only enormous city interior of hundreds of miles. i could by no ability make a evaluation between the two.

You are incorrect. It's due to the time changes that the flight seems to be that short.

No that is not correct it is because departure and arrival times are given in the local time zone and there is a three hour time zone.
