We are in the ladder of evolution. The ladder leads you to the top from where there is no return. If you think that human life is finale, then you can lead your life in whichever pattern you like. Discrimination and Discipline are the two bunds within which the water of Life flows. It has to ultimately reach the Ocean. But all rainwater do not reach the sea in one time. Some percolates under the soil. Some do not form rivulet and ends up in a lake or pond or well. For evolution also, time is needed. You have not become youth in one day. Likewise it takes many births for human beings to ultimately merge in the Ocean of Almighty. nagarajan.

I am not religious at all but have a leaning towards Buddhist philosophies. Whilst I do not believe in Heaven I do believe that the energy that is essentially me cannot be destroyed and therefore some element of me will continue after my current life ends (you know that energy cannot be destroyed only transformed). I think that life is rather like a computer game and that in each life the quest is to get to the next level. In order to get to the next level you have to get all the clues and follow the rules. You have to be the best on this level - not in a competitive way, just the best person you are able to be. The clues are all around us as to what makes a good person. Each religion has its own set of rules but they are all pretty much the same - don't steal, be kind etc etc.
I get out of bed every morning because I love life, I love the game - I'm enjoying the journey and am in no hurry to get to the next level. I am the source in my universe!

I will answer from a Christian standpoint. If you read through the Bible you will find that it focuses more on the life in the here and now than the here after (John 10:10 for instance.) Therefore it is my belief (and I think most Christians would agree) that we need to live in the here and now to accomplish the mission of God. I personally find this great motivation for getting up every morning. While I am glad that I will be going to a "better place" at some point, I am in no hurry to get there. There is important and meaningful work right here.

Life after death for the repentant ones is a Paradise earth, as Jesus told the man next to him. Many faithful ones will be part of the new heavens, or new government over the earth as Peter and Daniel prophesied.
Satan was a good angel for a while, then he became bad and leads 1/3 of the angels in rebellion, now waiting for the judgment of eternal destruction in Gehenna. So angels and humans are not once saved always saved.
Jesus said the goatlike people on judgment day are also going to Gehenna. Judas was not once saved always saved.
Love and appreciation for all God has done drives me to serve him even under strange conditions.
Isaiah 45:18 For this is what YHWH has said...The Former of the EARTH and the Maker of it...who formed it even to be INHABITED....

life after death means life of soul after coming out from the physical body. that is true. soul is in all time in past, present and future.
now your queries
if you are happy all the time at all stages of life it means you need not to come again on earth or the purpose of your life is solved.
you get knowledge of a better place in the morning
yes purpose of life is to attain the knowledge of everything ie the universe, creation, the God and everything
knowledge is infinite your life is low to learn infinite knowledge
the end result is same the attainment of true knowledge . the ways are different. may be duty or love but not fear
when you do not have the knowledge of a better place and the qualifications to live in a better place how can you enter into a better place. same as if you do not know basic knowledge of space and technology ,you can not go to space for research work.
so driving potential is to attain the true knowledge

There is a better place but until we are called to it God has a purpose for us - some know it some are searching for it but we are not to sit on our butts and do nothing while we are here that would be wasting our time and wasting God's gifts to us that we should be using - it is not fear or duty but love for the Father and a desire to please Him and bring Glory to Him in anyway we can
btw Christians that have accepted Jesus can't lose their salvation so we have the assurance that we are bound for Heaven and our future is taken care of so we should focus on doing the best we can with the present

Religious people are blind.
The majority of them are brainwashed since childhood by their irresponsible parents who program their child's minds with their belief. Those children then grow up and become robots.
And since they were grown in a dogmatic environment, they will never forfeit their beliefs and will never question them. They might even shift their beliefs when required, (example : God used evolution as his tool.). Some of them might not even attend church or conduct anything religious but they will still regard themselves as Christians and argue with anyone that questions their faith.
This is the number one reason why you can never expect any honest answer from religious people because they are ignorant at most. Basically, all you are gonna get from religious people is some whining and insulting when directing anything against them.
Apologies if I have gone a bit off-topic.

To walk the walk. In order to have an afterlife you first need to actually have a life. Everything has it's purpose to serve even if only to be an example and fill a void in space and time. Some food additives are know as; "Fillers" Some people are known as; "Extras."
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages."

God rewards us for taking up our cross everyday! For standing up for the word of the Lord, for being obedient etc. We are still here because we have to follow God to get to heaven! How can we be rewarded for nothing? The Lord has a unique design for all of our lives, a plan for us to walk in! God bless, hope this helps. Feel free to email me peeps

I believe in life after death. I also believe in making the most of the life we have now. What if we make it to the afterlife and then regret having not done something.
My 'mission statement' for life - enjoy your life as much as you can and help others to do the same with theirs.
