Just this instant, I finished a 6 oz cup of vanilla Yoplait light yogurt with a cup of high fiber cereal and a handful of dried blueberries mixed in. This is a typical breakfast for me. I will also commonly eat a bowl of instant oatmeal with a handful of walnuts and a banana. I always have green tea with Splenda.
Around 2 to 3 hours from now, I will have a snack. Sometimes it will be a 12 oz can of V8 with a string cheese, or an apple and an ounce of cheese, or a rice cake with a table spoon of peanut butter.
For lunch I'll have a salad with protein (either lunch meat or tuna), soup, or oatmeal, leftovers from dinner the night before, or I'll make a sandwich on 15 grain bread.
2-3 hours later it is time for another snack. I'll have yogurt, or a handful of nuts and raisins...something quick because I have to cook dinner.
If hubby is home and not on a business trip, then I will make a regular meal consisting of a protein, starch and vegetable or two. If he's away on business, then I'll have a sandwich or a salad or something light like that.
Am I healthy? I'm better now that I've started to eat this way! I was eating just when I was hungry, and I was not eating enough. I was not losing weight and I could not understand why, I was hardly eating anything. I found out that I was insulin reactive hypoglycemic, and now that I eat small meals every 2-3 hours I've dropped a few pounds and have a lot more energy.
Food is good if you eat the right stuff. Eating like this has made it easier for me to see which foods I react to, like fats and sugar. Fats make my stomach upset, and sugar makes me very tired. Snacking on nuts, peanut butter and V8 are an easy way to fill up between meals without adding excess calories as long as you know how much you are taking in.
