It depends on why you lack patience. If you grew up in a home situation that was volatile, you learned impatience from how your parents solved problems. Talk therapy would help you find ways to think before you speak or act impatiently.
There are some simple ways to build self control. Count to ten before you react to a situation. Write down your response on paper, put it aside, and then review and change it if necessary. Go for a short walk to clear you mind before you react. Yoga and other calming exercise programs help relieve stress's.
Some medications and health problems make us more impatient. Talk with your physician if a change of medication is necessary. If your impatience is due to health, support groups help you see that you are not alone.
Tense work situations can cause us any of us to become unglued. Evaluate your job to see if that is the problem. If so, seek employment some where else.

Pray....just don't pray for patience 'cuz the Good Lord will give you MORE situations where you have to practice it!!! Seriously, learn to count to 10 under your breath whenever you are in a stressful situation. This should help quite a bit, if only to calm you down. Good luck and God bless

I have a fiery temper. I have smashed things and even become violent when I'm angry. I grew up in a household that tempers flared all the time so I figure that's where I learned that this is the way to express anger. Seeking help from a therapist would probably help. Anger is most often hurt disguised. Figure out why you hurt and you can address the anger. I try taking deep breaths. It works sometimes but sometimes I'm so out of my mind that it does nothing. You need to seek help and get to the root of your anger to change your reactions when you get mad. Good luck and hang in there!!
