I don't know what you are implying by "faster", but I am an Spanish/English translator, and it is a proven fact that Spanish needs at least 20% more words to express the same ideas. For example, if I were to translate a 1000 word text in English, I know beforehand that the Spanish translation of that text will have at least 1200 words.

Sorry to tell you that somebody tricked you. First in the same way you think the Spanish you speak it and you write it. In the English you most take care of the pronunciation when you're talking to let exactly what are you talking about since you have to many different words that sound just the same. In Spanish with only one word I can know if something is male or female, ex: doctor=male doctor, doctora=female doctor/ perro=male dog, perra= female dog/ maestro= male teacher, maestra= female teacher. Another thing is that you have 2 words to describe something that is the same thing, Why the extension of your hands are call fingers and the extension of your feet are called toes, aren't the same thing?
As you can see my friend Spanish is a lot faster than English, perhaps that 20 percent of English is Spanish, often in USA, and Latin. Example: What does the word tooth or teeth have to do with the word dentist? None!! In Spanish tooth= diente and teeth= dientes and dentist= dentista; diente, diente and dentista, Can you see the relation among these 3 words in Spanish? OK, now tooth, teeth and dentist, Where the heck do you see the relation among these words? No where! Is because the word "dentista" and "dentist" both have a Latin root from the word "diente". Got it my friend? If you need more comparisons, let me know. I'll help you out.

No, the speed of expressing idea has to do with the intelligence of the individuals.
TYPING English is probably faster because a standard keyboard was designed for the English language.

Yes because English became an international language for it is being enriched in vocabulary by ever increasing additional words coined by users.
