No for it is selfish because of its fallen state. Man's nature is not to serve GOD but oneself.

I would like to say humans are good by nature. But you start to wonder when you see what's happening all over the world. I still think there is some good in everyone only it's hard to see in some people. Still, there is more "good" people than "bad" and that, I think, is a proof of that humans are good after all.

In general, human nature is selfish. It has to be in order for us to survive. But selfish isn't necessarily bad. You give a poor man some food: he feels good and you feel good. It IS bad though, for example, when someone bullies someone else to make themselves feel better.
Therefore, human nature itself is neither good nor bad. Human nature is defined by the human.

Yes. Watch the babies for instance. Watch their innocent smiles. It is full of joy. The baby is able to sleep for around 16 hrs a day. Because it is pure, innocent, possess selfless love. That is the reason it smiles in joy when any body fondles it. As we grow we accumulate the unwanted traits from other beings, especially the elders and try to imitate them. We learn to speak lies, we develop greed and selfishness etc. Hence by nature human is good but contaminated later by society. nagarajan.

If human nature were good then there would be no famine, no war, no need for weapons of any sort, no East/West divide, no poverty and no ill gotten gains, etc. Also I feel there would be no need for money!

No, human nature is NOT good.

I believe so. Nobody is born a bad person. Every man is his own master. We posses intelligence & judgement to sort out good & evil; one can't blame human nature for man made disasters.

With my perception of minimal theology; I don't think so! I believe that is why God sent His Son, Jesus to save us because we are always ready to go against everything that was essentially good. Since Jesus went to heaven, he left us with; the "Holy Spirit." The HS keeps us in focus, on the good choices we can make throughout our life, and helps us to stay on the right path. Ps. We can't do anything right; we can't even forgive, believe, drive sane or stay married, etc. So we always need God's intervention .

We have evolved to behave in the way that gives us the best chance of staying alive long enough to have children and to raise these children until they have children. Some selfish behaviours are natural because they increase our chances of doing this, and our unselfish behaviours are natural because in that circumstance they increase our chances of doing something (so actually they're not truly unselfish).

Human nature tends to like tempting things, and no matter how selfless you're, you do have selfishness deep inside, sad but true.

I don't think we are born 'bad' so we learn from our environment and those around us. The desire for survival in some areas leads people to do things some of the rest of us 'judge' as bad or evil.

It is easier to think in terms of 'good' and 'bad' if you have plenty.

I think it is neutral, a blank page that can be written on.
