Indian nation is more consious. I personally think if you try to take steps to literate some individuals around yourself with your own effort and incourage your friend or relatives to do the same jobs, India will be 100% literate country. This prescription is not for your country but for all developing countries of the world.

The cost of education has gone up very much in India, in the past few years. Today, higher education, professional education, like engineering and medical, is very very expensive, maybe it is not affordable to the common man, who has more than one child. Rationalization in the cost of education is necessary to make higher professional education within reach of the common people (and their children), who also have dreams and aspirations. Steps should be taken to stop the gross commercialization of education.

Politicians have been trying it for the last 60 years without much head way - actually they r afraid that if everyone is literate then there'll be no votes for them!
