I think you are asking if only the people who were alive back then are the ones who's sins he died for. Ask anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as the savior and they will tell you he died for everyone's sins, people then, now and in the future. If he said "He who believes shall not perish..." than I'd say you have nothing to worry about. Why on earth would anyone bother to believe in him now and talk about salvation through Jesus if only people from the past were saved? No one is throwing you into the pit of hell for asking for a simple clarification. You just want to understand and I don't see what's wrong with that. If anything, it's a good thing.

I not a believer in Christ but I think you are worrying too much. If you know you believe already then you've done nothing wrong in the eyes of your God.

I don't think there is anything wrong with seeking answers to your questions...I think that is human nature. I believe Jesus' death was for ALL. John 3:16 states that WHOSOEVER believes will not perish. The bible also says that ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but that the gift of God (for ALL) is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 3:23 and 6:23). If you think about it, these verses which reference salvation were written by Paul after Jesus' death, and Paul never physically met Christ. If you believe that the scripture is inspired by God then He used a man who had never met Christ to write most of the scriptures referencing salvation. The bible also states that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Other than that all I can say is that the Bible tells us that Satan is a liar and wants to take away our peace in Christ. But a verse in the new testament tells us that "everything that was written in the past was written to teach us...." Finally, Revelations makes it clear that Christ will come back once for the rapture, and then again later to receive the rest of those who are "in Him." I take that to mean that there will be a chance for those who are born after the rapture to believe and be saved. I hope that you can find peace!

The only reason someone will go to hell is for rejectiing the Son of God and His finished work on Calvary. The awesome, loving God of the universe, can handle any question. When Jesus died for our sins, of course, that sacrifice was for every sin you or I, or anyone who will come to Him, has ever committed, past, present, and future. If His atonement was only meant for people"back then," no one living would be able to be saved. He suffered, died, and rose again. He lives! Those nail scarred hands still bid the lost, the lonely, the broken hearted....each of us....to come. I'm glad you asked; the Bible has the answers. If you have trusted Jesus as your personal Saviour, all your sins are forgiven. Be comforted. Be thankful.

Your in the right for asking. If you don't understand soemthing, it is always good to ask for some help in figuring it out. Jesus' followers searched the scriptures to see whether what they were being taught was true, too.

(Acts 17:11) Now the latter were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·ni´ca, for they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so.

Jesus died so that we can have the chance of getting forgiveness of our sins.

(John 3:16) “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.

(John 17:3) This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.

Our lifestyle, actions, and heart condition all bear a part on whether we live or die.

Psalm 37:10-11) And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

If Jesus' death only forgave the sins of those who lived during his time, then how would Paul have been saved, who only came to Christ after Christ had died? Of course, the death of Christ is supposed to save all, into the future.

Do not be afraid to ask questions about the Bible. The Bible itself allows you to do so. I wish I knew where the verse was, maybe in Deuteronomy - but it says to inquire and see if anything like what has been done in Israel has happened anywhere else. There's nothing wrong with asking a question. This is how you learn.

What happen to all souls? We all will be resurrected.

The bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 that during the 2nd coming of the dead in Christ shall rise first (that is Christ beliver that alredy dead). Then followed by the living one (verse 17). Then at the end of the day (Rev 20:13) the rest will raise again to be punish according of what they've done.

True, if u ask different pastor/priest you will get a different answer. So why don't u read it for your self? we are living in time of luxury where you can get a Bible easily.

And no, God will never punish us for questioning. He is a God of love. He never wants us to follow him like a robot, he gave us a freedom of choise - therefore He also give us answer to all of the question we can think about - its all in the Bible.

Hi Butterfly,

without wishing to enter into deep discussions about the 'truths' of bible teaching I would offer you these points...

Jesus didn't say he was 'dying for our sins' in fact HE questioned God while he was on the cross. So there's obviously NO anti-questioning rule from God. The 'rules' came hundreds of years later by writers who assembled the bible and stated they represented the 'word of God'. These rules were imposed and enforced by the clergy within each branch of the faith.

The anti-questioning rule comes, mainly from the religious leaders of various faiths. The Roman Catholic church, for eample, has 'hidden' much material that didn't 'fit' into their way of teaching. (The Apophrycal literatures, for example)

Other faiths have their own strong views on various aspects of belief.

Most Christian churches teach that faith (and belief) extends to people of all ages, including the present day and not just the time of the crucifixion. If you believe, as you say you do, then your church will support your right to everlasting life.

You were given, so the bible says, the right to choose whether or not you believe, this implies a right to question the 'facts'...as your decision, apparently, is to believe and 'keep the faith' then it is unlikely you will be thrown into the 'pit of hell'.

If you are a practising christian I cannot believe that God (if he exists) would throw you into the pit of Hell for having doubts at any time. St.Thomas certainly had doubts, didn't he?

Keep living a 'good' life, enjoy what you have been given and don't worry.

warm greetings,

BobSpain

God is not afraid of you asking questions. He made you with intelligence-- and a questioning mind is part of that intelligence. Don't be afraid to ask questions, God isn't threatend by that at all ,and He won't judge you for it.

As you study your Bible you'll find that God's plan of salvation was ready before He created man.
2 Tim.1:This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

God is ETERNAL, there is no time in His presence. He sees now what happened six thousand years ago and what will happen in six thousand years from today. So, when Jesus died on the cross, He already knew you and what sins you would commit and died for them all.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world (all of creation for all time) that He gave His only begotten Son
that WHOEVER (at any time while the earth exists) Believes on Him(Jesus Christ) shall not perish but have eternal life. The second coming is to gather believers to Himself as an act of love.
But for those who mock or scoff or reject Gods gift of eternal life the second coming will not be a happy time.

No you will not get thrown into the pit or hell for asking questions about the Bible, or God. Jesus answered many questions about himself and God while he was on earth. He meant from the time of his Crucifixion on till the second coming. When you die your soul goes to Heaven if you believe that Christ died for your sins. The time of the second coming of Christ is when he will take all believers on earth.
