I would like to be an au pair this summer but my parents are worried about me, i would have to go on my own but only for a month, anyone with any experience or advice for this? ta x

I worked as an au pair during my summers in high school and loved it. My best suggestion for you is to go through an agency because they screen their clientele! Have fun.

As long as you register with a reputable company who can give you assurances regarding safety, insurance, etc., I think if you had all this information and you could reassure your parents you are with a reputable company they may not worry as much. Don't go with these little companies nobody's heard of or who don't have a good reputation as it could end up you paying them. Good luck with your au pairing.

No experience of this but if it is something you would really like to do then I feel you should have a chat with your parents and tell them why you want to do it so much maybe between you you can all then understand each others feelings and concerns, whatever you decide all the best

As long as you go through a reputable agency, then you should go for it. It will be a great experience for you, and at the end of the day, if you truely do not like it, you can come home.
Everyone should travel, experience life in other places.... go for it girl. You'll only regret it if you don't.

oh my god!! DO IT!!
I did it myself when i was younger, ok mine was for a year but it was fab!! I went to the states for a year with a proper agency, they look after you, pay you and you get some fab experience. if you want any more details of the agency i used email me on lisaviduka@yahoo.co.uk
