Getting rid of the cat is not an option

A friend of mine who is very allergic to cats, but loves them gives her cat special drops to keep him from producing the dander she is allergic to. The drops are called ACE and the vets make them up. One of the techs said all vets don't beleive in them but when they work they work. The bottle of drops lasts about 4 months at the rate of 3 drops on Louis' wet food daily. $6.00 a bottle and they sure work for my friend. She wouldn't be able to have him otherwise.

All of the answers I read are good but I have another solution that your doctor may not have thought of. I found this solution by accident, but it works for me. I have posted it on Yahoo before and others have said it worked for them too.

I was allergic to only one of my cats. If she came anywhere near my head, my eyes would run and itch and burn so bad I had to push her away. I've had her for 16 years and it has always been a problem.

One of my other cats had a serious medical condition with skin sores. I put him on a special vitamin and put all my other cats on vitamins at the same time. They already all eat canned natural food by the way.

Well guess what. My old female cat now sleeps on my pillow and it doesn't bother me. (Except for the whiskers poking me in the nose at 5am.) This change happened over 2-3 weeks. You can see the change in all their coats and all shed much less. Who would have thought a simple vitamin could stop an allergy that has bothered me for 16 years?

I would try putting the cat on a high quality natural canned food. If you have a screened in porch or other safe place, let the cat get sunlight and fresh air. (I read that artificial light makes cats shed more.) And I would try a feline vitamin that is specific to skin and coat issues. It's worth a shot and if it works for you it will have been the cheapest and easiest solution. Why take drugs every day if you don't have to?

Try your local pet shop for the food and vitamins or you can get them at http://www.onlynaturalpet.com

You can also get a great vitamin for skin conditions at http://www.belfield.com/products4.html#oroderm My cat gets a half a pill per day. Both of these websites have lots of information on nutrition and suppliments. I hope this works for you too!

I know of many people who have gotten over their allergy by allergy saturation. It's not easy to do, but, it may be something you would want to try to get over your allergy. UNLESS, it's a severe allergy, and could be life threatening.
All you have to do, is saturate yourself with said allergy, and wait for your symptoms to get lesser and lesser. If there is a cerrtain room your cat likes especially, spend some time relaxing in there. It may take a while, depending on the severity of the allergy.
Please do not take the persons advise that said put the cat outside. If this is going to be an indoor cat, you can't put it outside.
Also, kudos to you, for wanting to keep your cat at all costs! I wish there were more people out there like you, you would make my job much easier and less heartbreaking!
Good luck to you and your fuzzy friend

How long have you been around the cat? I am allergic to cats myself but have two shop cats that I have become fairly immune to. The more you are with it, the better it will get.

The only proven allergy remedy I have found is a bi annual steroid shot. Works wonders.

A good way is too put your cat outside atleast during the day. And just use a simple allergy pill you find in the medicine aisle at your neighborhood walmart or something. If that does'nt work then you should probably make an appointment with your doctor and have him prescribe a prescription allergy medicine.

Vacuum & clean your place.
If your cats fur doesn't tangle when wet, i suggest a 1 part vinager to 4 parts water, dip a brush in it. Dont' let your cat see the water. Just brush the cat, he'll love the grooming, clueless to the cleaning. Do this once a month.
I have no more allergic reactions to my cats since i've been a clean freak.
Good Luck!
As for the first reply u got from someone suggesting u put your cat outside???????!!!!!!!! CRAZY. Don't do it. Dumb cat owner.
