It sounds like bi-polar disorder to me. I am bi-polar. I never obsessed about cancer , for me it's been car accidents. Even though I haven't had a car accident since 1995, I always stress over the possibility. It gets really tough when I have to drive several miles a day for work.
I was on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds for 8 years with regular doctors. One finally insisted I seek counseling and referred me to a psychiatrist. He diagnosed me as bi-polar and changed my meds. I'm a LOT better now. I can actually relax a little when I'm driving. I don't go into a rage for no apparent reason, I haven't had a panic attack in months, and I can get off the couch to clean the house.
There is hope for you. Not all medications work for all people. Some Doctors can't seem to understand that. Stick with your meds. If you don't start feeling better in a month, talk to your doctor again. They may need to change your dose or try a different medication. If it still doesn't work find a new doctor. Don't give up. You can get better.

It sure sounds like bi-polar or as they used to call it Manic-Depressive. I have a sister and a niece with it. They do that fast talking a lot when they are in the manic phase then they fall into the depths of despair. You say you feel bored. Do you have any hobbies or interests. Many famous writers and artists have this disorder and did their best work when they were manic. You have to realize that many many people have chemical imbalances in the brain and it is part of what makes us unique to each other. Accept it and learn how to focus your energies toward something constructive. Bi-Polar people are very capable of extraordinary creativity. Work with it.
Leann you know that saying....God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.
This is especially true in your case and you should say it every morning and everynight.
Lots of blessings

Leanne, you had not mentioned "Bi-Polar" until I had posted it in one of my responses to you.
Leanne, you are very ill, go see a real psychotherapist today.
Be honest with the doctor, you are a hypochondriac.
You need help with depression and something to do besides focus on your self.
Do something that will get you involved in being a benefit to others.
Go today. Go to a hospital if need be and check in for a while. Get yourself stabilized.

I would go back and ask to be put on different medication, if I had been taking the Rivitril for several weeks, explaining why. Write all this down, so you don't forget anything, but explain first, then look at your notes. If this doesn't work, after several weeks, you might consider changing your shrink.

Leanne, My 21 year old daughter is Bi-Polar and she is exactly as you have described, she will be extremely High or extremely Low. She will have sudden outburst and gets angry for little or no reason and others times shes really depressed and wants to cry or commit Suicide. You need Medical treatment and Therapy. They will help you, but you have to take your medicine daily for it to work.. good Luck

You do not have bi polar...bi polar sufferers, when not having an episode have utter remorse for what they have done... and try to repair the damage they have done..You have none, you are just trying to make excuses for your appaling behaviour!
