God doesn't need human beings, but He created us because of His love for us. God says, in the "Hidden Words"
"I loved thy creation, hence I created thee. Wherefore, do thou love Me, that I may name thy name and fill thy soul with the spirit of life."
At the same time, if we turn the mirrors of our hearts away from God, His love does not reach us and our lives bear no fruit.
"If thou lovest Me not, my love can in no wise reach thee. Know this, O servant."

The reason, that He would like for us to worship Him, is not only because He first loved us. But because, according to Gensis; we (humans) were made in His image.
Look at it this way, yes; humans have "cognitive power to understand and accept Jesus Christ". But what percentage of the human population has the deep relationship, that we are taught by His Holy Word through Christ Jesus; to have with Him?
Since, we are not able to communicate with animals, on their level; I am not sure that we should be trying to answer this question. We can't be 100% sure that OUR opinions and thoughts on this are matched up with that of God.
According to the Word of God, if we place Him within our own ideas, thoughts, or opinions; we are actually breaking one of His Laws ... "Do not commit Idolatry".
I want to ask the following ====
What difference does it make?
Should we worry or be more concerned about animals being saved or humans?
Why must we always attempt to "humanly" rationalize everything?
Where is "faith in knowing that He is in control and knows what He is doing"?

This is a good question. I admit, when I first read only the question, that it seemed like it had an obvious answer. After reading the rest that you added, here is my answer. God created all, including the land, air, and sea animals. Then He created man. The difference is that the animals were not created in His image. They don't have a soul. Man was created in His image and with a soul. This is what seperates us from the animals. God gave Adam and mankind dominion over the animals.

Oh, yes, he most certainly does care that we believe in him and worship him. God shows us he cares by making man in his image. He is also a very jealous and a God to be feared.
He tells us not to have any false gods before him. A good example of that is our children are not the little angels we make them out to be. God show us who are children especially if we love our children more than god. Human beings are made to error . To error is human to forgive is devine. There is no way any one could live up to the 10 commandments. A person would go insane trying. The saying goes Christians are not perfect they are forgiven. We are better than creatures. I have seen creatures God forgive me that were better parents than humans.

I tend to believe that what we mean by the word "God" usually refers to the qualities of a human. A human thinks, a human cares, a human discriminates. God is not human, however. Every creation holds a special place and role in the Universe, contributing to Universal harmony. As humans we choose to believe that we are more special than all other creations, that "god" "meant" for it to be like this, but maybe we are just another brick in the wall...

In various parts of the Bible it is stated in various ways that all of nature worships God. When Adam fell all of creation fell with him. In Romans chapter 8 it states that creation waits for the coming of the sons of God that it might be redeemed. Nature will be redeemed from original sin, which is death, but it is given to mankind only to have the eternal salvation of Jesus Christ. To be saved means to be called out. God has called out mankind from his creation to be saved. Ultimately there will be a new heaven and a new earth, but redeemed man shall remain as a new creation in Christ. You have asked a very difficult question for which there is no easy answer. I have done the best that I know how to at least provide you with a partial answer. Thanks for the question. May God bless you. Jesus loves you.

St. Francis preached to birds and animals. They seemed to respond positively. From my understanding, animals can't sin. So they don't need a savior. I've also been told that they have souls, but not spirits. Somebody break out the spirit detector? I was intrigued by your opening question, but now that I see that's not the question you want answered, I'll just say that as far as I know, animals don't have eternal life. I don't think God would want us eating our brothers and sisters or having them as pets.

Lover of God told you about the rocks crying out, and in other places the Bible talks about all of creation glorifying God.
Only people are made in His image.
Every thing else is not that important.
Only people have an eternal soul.
Nothing else does.
Only we can give God the highest praise.
But all of creation does it's part in praising Him also.

All of God's creatures: the birds, animals of all kinds, trees, flowers, everything that has life, gives praise to God by its existence. We were made to give praise and love to God by our existence. Just as a parents expects their children to love them, so too do we show God our gratitude for our life by the love and respect we give God. One way we show this respect is the when we worship God as our Creator.

God absolutely does care that we have faith in Him. He also deeply appreciates our worship of Him, as this proves our willing submission to His authority and our loving devotion to Him.
Here are some passages that demonstrate God's attitude toward us when we have faith:
Zephaniah 3:17 "The LORD your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”
Can you imagine God so overjoyed that HE sings to YOU? It's true!
As for why animals weren't created with the same spiritual opportunities as humans: remember, humans (and not animals) were created in the image of God.
