My advice is to buy the right tools; they're less than $8 at discount stores. It is possible to remove them with bent solid wire or bent coat hangers, but much harder; and you run the risk of damaging the brackets, in which case you'd probably have to destroy the radio to remove it.

Make your own. The removal tool is shaped somewhat like the top of a Bishop chess piece so you can pull on it to get the stereo out after you push the retainer clips in. Just sharpen the ends of some clothes hanger wire (about the shape of a knitting needle) and push them in the 4 holes on the front of the radio to release the retaining clips. When the clips are released you can remove the radio but you have to just pull on the radio itself or if you can reach behind it you can push it out....Good Luck...

The proper tools cost a few quid.

A new stereo when you screw it up trying to get it out with bits of bent coat hanger will cost hundreds.

The choice is yours

Use a bent wire type coathanger to push into the holes.
Or alternatively, leave it outside a pub in Liverpool - it'll soon be out!

i have removed one with a metal coat hanger before you cut it and bend it so that they fit into the holes and pull and wiggle but its worth the $15 to buy the tool

Leave it unlocked overnight.
(Disable the engine or the whole car might be gone in the morning)
