I have cream units and a black granite worktop in my flat in Putney; I think that it looks great. I also have a black slate soapdish which I got from eBay - Pure 3 design Shop and that is just perfect with it. You can also buy from their website www.pure3design.biz

Hi i have a black and white kitchen. White units with gold handles and black granite work top. It's a kitchen diner so it's a large space. I painted the top of the wall White sprayed all the wood work Matt black and got some fantastic black and white wall paper for the lower half of the walls. It's white with massive black flowers on it. And i have to say it looks FANTASTIC! I've still to put the floor which will be white tills with a small black diamond in the middle of each. Everyone has commented on how great it looks and they all can't wait to see it with the floor down. It makes a great statement but it's probably not for someone to squeamish about being bold
:-)

My mother in law has a kitchen just as you described. Cream painted units with black granite.
Looks beautiful and not too much of a contrast, but be warned ...granite needs polishing to keep its shine not just a wipe with a damp cloth and if you drop anything ie cup or glass on it the thing you drop will not survive. Also if you have kids or pets cream needs constantly cleaned.
Having said all that I am currently in the process of ordering a kitchen with a black granite worktop!(In my opinion nothing looks better despite the hassel) Although i've chosen pippy oak units. (I have pets and kids lol)
Good luck with your choice whichever you go for.

personally if you are going for a contempory look the suggestion you made about white with black countertops, would look excellent. being that the kitchen would be so contrasted I would look at using either a blue or red accent to tone down the area as to not overpower the eye when looking at it. Sometimes you can choose the finishes on the countertops and if you can do this look for something in the middle range to soften the shine. Otherwise Black and white is an excellent choice.

I got a New England style white kitchen, Belfast sink and with solid beech worktop and a wooden venetian blind and cream and beige laminate flooring which looks like flagstones. It very nice. Think black granite would be lovely. Be warned, a white kitchen is very hard work, it shows up every little bit of everthing you'll be constantly wiping down the cupboards!!

Hi i am pierce from pierce & Banderiezz.
the color of your kitchen reside on a lot of issues.
theese are just a few to think anbout
Is there a lot of natural lighting?
What color texture is the flooring?
How big is your kitchen?
How tall is your kitchen
And mainly What colors dont you like?
theese are all questions you must ask yourself
as they all lead to the right choice
you would be best hiring a profesional whom is trained in the field as it is a major investment if it is a new kitchen or particulary old kitchen.
good luck.

I think a kitchen should be a dark stone with a slight hint of blue with ceramic tiles in a marble grey woutch out for not using too much wood and be carefull you dont go over the top with it

Why not go to MFI and have them computerise your requirements of a kitchen, and you can see if the kitchen colours, layout, deco actually work.
You are not obliged to buy the kitchen or anything. I found them very helpful.
An on line site which is pretty good, is Dulux http://www.dulux.co.uk have the same facility which you can use on-line and look at...

That's a great idea. the tops should not be overwhelming with the wood floors and light cabinets.
How about stainless steel units with black trim, that would look great with the granite.
Hope this helps.

Black and white for a kitchen is great, then just pick one color (red, orange or lime green) to accent with.
