Well Allman said it right....but
It's free for the first 6 months. Then you can buy annual membership which is about $400. Or you can get a Lifetime membership which is about $2500.
These are approximate. This is membership to the International Association of Scientologists. The money is not used by the Church directly but goes to support and fund international campaigns like Youth For Human
Rights, Literacy,(Applied Scholastics) Drug Education and Rehab ,(Narconon) Criminal Rehab, (Criminon) Moral Codes (Way to Happiness Booklet distribution) etc. and Psychiatric abuse (Citizens Commission on Human Rights).
There are many levels of membership above Lifetime for those who choose to donate and support these campaigns.

There are different levels of Membership in the International Association of Scientologists.

I am a Scientologist and I have payed a membership. I don't find it expensive because my ability to handle life has increased, so money does not concern me as much as it use to.

Don't get me wrong I still need money to get by. I just find it easier to create what i want to create now.

For the actual cost of membership go to the link below.

This is separate to the cost of courses or auditing. The money I have payed goes to forwarding the purposes of Scientology. Betterment activities, anti drugging campaigns, education campaigns, good will tours and the like.

There is a lot of work to do on this planet and there are not many of us doing it.

So either get on board and help or step back and let us do what needs to be done.

Note: Auditing is free for students and staff on certain courses. Paid auditing cost from $200 for 12.5 hrs and up depending on the level needed. A Scientology auditor has studied the equivalent of 1 up to about 12 years of university. This study is paid for by the individual and the church.

I got talked into enrolling in a Scientology so-called "Communication Course" when I was a dumb college kid. Would you care to guess how Scientology teaches you to communicate? You sit in a chair and stare eyeball to eyeball at another comm course student. You just sit and stare for long periods of time. no talking allowed. That's all there was too it. How does this help you communicate better. I couldn't figure it out. The staff members were not allowed to answer questions like that. All they could do is refer you to L Ron Hubbard's book.

There were other Scientology dudes in little rooms that would repeatedly call you in and pressure you into signing up for very expensive "auditing" sessions. Again they weren't allowed to answer questions about what the heck auditing is. They just refer you to the book and squeeze you for money. I quit when I saw that the comm course was a joke and Scientology was a money grab.

Of course.

The official Scientology organization is composed of a number of “levels”. One begins as a “preclear” & works their way up. One must purchase virtually every service crucial to advancement directly from the "church" & at staggering prices. "Auditing", for example, is purchased in 12½ hour blocks, costing anywhere from $750 for introductory sessions to between $8,000 & $9,000 for advanced sessions. Visit this link to see how $380,000 is a conservative estimate for the total cost of moving all the way up the Scientology hierarchal ladder: http://www.xenu.net/archive/prices.html
These are the total costs for auditing alone: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology_as_a_business#Costs

Well, you have to pay a fee to get every audit and class...Plenty of stories out there of people being financially ruined becasue of it.

check out the link in my source, money isn't the only price you pay...

of course the "church" of scientology would say this and any other negative thing on the internet is a lie and lable me as an enemy of the "church"...

Any ammount, no matter how low, is too expencive. If you want to join a relighion based on science-fiction, you may as well become a Jedi. At least they don't take all your money.
