If I drink a glass of kool-aid right before bed, I'm bound to be awake for a little while due to the massive amount of sugar. But what about artificial sweeteners? As substitutions for the real thing, do they still keep you awake and give you an artificial "sugar high?" Thanks 8^!

Some, actually, like glycerol, sorbitol and fructose also have a high energy potential.

But sugar is sugar, and except if you have trouble with it, sick to it, you body, brain and muscles, needs it ; you should avoid substitutes, as there are controversies running for many of the of them.

See the article below for more explainations.

Hope it helped.

Most artificial sweeteners do not provide food energy or cause the body to produce insulin. That's why dieters and diabetics use them. Hence, no sugar high.

No, there's no sugar or any carbohydrates that could give you a 'high' in artificial sweeteners. They just don't taste very good.
