Planning on a honeymoon in early Oct. I know that both places are great for relaxing on the beach, but which is better for water sports and nightlife? Which trip would be more expensive?

Maldives has always been popular when it comes to beautiful beaches & sunsets.So i'd prolly go for Maldives.Tahiti may offer more choices of nightlife tho.If u were to ask me wer wud i wanna go for my honeymoon, i'd prolly choose Santorini Island,Greece..Great for honeymooners.If u really want a place thats cheaper than both countries above, i'd head to Southeast Asia, where the islands are beautiful & good currency bargain! Congrats!

Costs are about the same. Water sports are better in the Maldives but Tahiti has better nightlife. Big stars like Jet Li and Paul McCartney prefer the Maldives because of the relatively unspoiled ecosystem there.
What you must know is that Tahiti has big problems with drugs, HIV-Aids, prostitution and crimes whereas the Maldives do not. It may be worth your consideration before you make your final decision.

I have been to the Maldives two times (three different resorts) and none had much in the way of "night life". They all offered watersports. personally prefer Tahiti, though I am not too sure which one would be better for your choice.
