Being deaf does not mean that you cannot enjoy music. You can pick up the rythm, beat and timing through vibrations. I would hate to be blind. In the safety of your own home, wait until late at night, really dark, close your eyes or wear a blind fold then try and negotiate your way from one room to the other. You know where things are in your house but it is still very scary trying to get about. Can you imagine what it would be like being outside, everything is a danger to you. You are dependant on someone all the time. Even if it is just to get you used to getting about the area you live in, going to the shop. A wrong turning and you are lost. You cannot go on any type of journey outside your own small world without help. It means almost constant dependance on others to stop you being housebound. The very thought frightens the life out of me.

Deaf because I wouldnt like the thought of never seeing what I look like (even if it is a bit scary in the morning)or not being able to drive and not be able to pick my own clothes from the shops or know what colours are or what trees and well everything looks like. Hope this doesnt sound ignorant to people who are deaf and blind as I am only guessing.

Well I am blind and it holds no fears, I live a normal happy life. Deaf I think would be very hard, however there are many people who are deaf/blind and that is a very lonely isolated place to be.

I think God had been merciful to you as you might have both abilities of seeing and hearing. I am deaf. i met with an accident and my ears lost its nerve.thank god I am not blind.I became a deaf after my age of 38.until then I was crazy about music.now as you have put this question you cant live with music alone ,and be a blind needing help to find even your plate of food.I can give a lot of story about my sufferings with my deafness. but, I think I am fortunate that i am able to see things ,move myself, read see all that i could and enjoy.i am able to overcome my loss of hearing.if you chose to be a blind, god, you will suffer a lot and die sooner than you think you could live, because of incapability to help yourself.why the hell you ask these type of question.do you think one can have choice in these things.I pray the almighty to leave you untouched ,so that you have both hearing ability and seeing throughout your life.

If I had to choose, I would rather be deaf. I'm a very visual person and I'd also miss watching TV.

Definitely deaf. Hearing can be artificially improved, and even if it can't, you can still communicate with sign language. When you're blind, you're blind. End of.
