If every promise of God's is "Yes" and "Amen" in Christ,
what if you claim a promise of vengeance against another Christian? (2 COr 1:20)

Also, considering the power supposedly inherent in a Christian's words, and the Name of Christ, what if you commanded demons to harrass and destroy another Christian?

For the people who are going to answer, "but that's not what God meant!" and "He didn't mean for it to be used in that context!":

1. You're not answering my question at all.

2. If God retracts on His promise to me because my enemy happens to be a Christian, a promise becomes a lie, no?

Seeing as how a number or respondents don't know their bible, and apparently aren't literate enough to see the verse reference i left,

2 Corinthians 1:20

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Wow, talk about care bears. No wonder people snicker at most Christians.

I see most of the people who answered so far make self-righteous, sweeping statements that have absolutely no grounds in scripture at all.

oh, it's not the context. oh, you're doing wrong.

as usual, most christians can't even provide any proof from their own bibles to justify their words.

what else is new?

what an amusing display :)

Seeing as how you are getting so many answers to your question that have something to do with your question, I offer this:

Christians have been killing Christians since Christianity started. Even one of the apostles was the one responsible for Jesus' death, you'd think he would know better. So to say that one Christian can't kill another is foolish. Vengeance is something that God reserves for himself, there is a quote there as there are snippets from the bible for everything, but then who is to say you aren't being used for God's vengeance? Anyone saying contrary would be judging you, which is also contrary to God's word, supposedly, although Christians are good at judging other people.

You are right, a promise is a promise, although I think your uses of those promises might be up for discussion. Everything in the bible is conditional, such as salvation (i.e. you can only be saved if you kill yourself for god kind of thing) and you'd have to be careful about your uses.

It's the same reason Jews should be able to reach 'heaven' under the old covenant with Abraham, because God made a promise and for him not to honor it makes him a liar (although Jesus said he is the only way to heaven, which means all the Jews are screwed, even though God said . . . .) Go figure.

God does not give you power to do YOUR will but HIS will. And all His promises are not 'yes' and 'amen'. Where did you get that idea?
The Bible says "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord".
You cannot pray to God that you get even with others Christian or not.
Don't confuse your will with God's. Christians are to put aside malice, hate, vengeance and do God's will.
I can't imagine where people come up with some ideas.

Edit: I looked up the verse.
All the promises of God may be "yes" but He does not promise us vengeance on our enemies but He promises "yes" to anything "according to His will".
And yes, you are taking the verse out of context!

Well, the Bible says in 1 John 4 that if we say we love God but we hate our brother, then we're a liar. And since God calls us to leave vengeance up to Him and for us to instead love our enemies, I really don't think vengeance should be an issue we should consider.

THOSE YOU OFFER UP are a huge contradiction to the will of GOD, so they would not be fulfilled at all. What this looks like to me is witchcraft~! spell casting is what u [propose?}//......

You have the scriptures all mixed up honey. That is not what the LORD meant in the context you are thinking.

i'm not sure where you get "yes and amen" for every promise, but god won't hurt another believer in him.

Demons can't do things for you in the name of christ, they can only be exorcised out of people.

vengeance is not ours to claim (Romans 12:9-21)

God will take revenge on who he feels need it

Jesus commands that we love all, even our enemies.(matthew 5:44) so then for what reason would we have to send demons to harass anyone.

You have no idea of the true and actual context in which these biblical promises are framed.

You also fail to realize that it is foolish to attempt to mock God with his own words.

No conundrum here. You're just totally ignorant.

you're playing on the surface of words like a child missing the meaning. The "name" isn't just the utterance, but the "name-sake". If you ask it "in his name" (for his sake), he will do it because he cannot deny himself.
