What does having to join the Marines have to do with you being gay? I would think that being gay would be harder than joining the Marines.

BUT..... you want to know what's hard about joining the Marines. Bootcamp. Its the breaking down of what you know. For instance, most people are taught to look in someone's eyes when speaking to them.... you have to remember that you can't (you got to look past them). For a while, nothing you say will be the right answer. Its not good to be first but its bad to be last at everything (eating, training, etc). Remember its a don't ask don't tell policy. So if you are gay, don't tell them, because you'll probably get it worse while you are in boot. After your stationed somewhere, do what you got to do.....

But, when you get back, you will gain so much confidence. And that outweighs everything else.

Being in a world of S***, where your gasoline costs you an arm and a leg twice.

Ask this guy (who I have the deepest respect for, and his wife) what's the hardest part about it. Don't kid yourself, You can't choose your battles in the military. Bin Laden is not in Iraq.

Forget your parents....I'd think having to tell your drill instructor your gay may be worse. I suspect your parnets would accept that more readily than the DI.
