i fish bass tournaments, so i like to have the best tackle i can afford. i've spent $300 on baitcasting reels before, and will do it again. you get what you pay for. i'm guessing your husband is a saltwater angler, and i understand they pay a lot for their reels. a reel like that will probably last forever! unless it falls in the drink!

Up to $60 for a spinning reel. It all depends on what you're buying. Salt water big game reels and high end fly fishing reels are quite expensive. For most freshwater fishing theres no reel need to go over a hundred bucks unless you have cash to burn and like the look of a certain reel (or like the salesman).
