I am a living in a condo and I have 1 cat. Trouble is, We live on the 1st floor and we are moving up the 6th floor, and my cat is not allowed inside because he sheds alot of hair and he perfers to live outside. I am not comfortable with my cat living down stairs because he gets chased and attacked by other cats, and he is not allowed to live inside. Any Ideas?

And I do feed it and I love him to death, Its just that it sheds so much hair it gives people allergies. He is alot happier outside because we found him when he was a stray and we decided to take him in, but he perfers being outside

Are you staying in the same building? If you are, the has no way of knowing you've left the old condo and will be at those windows bugging the new tenants. If you're not willing to bring him into the new condo, he's not your cat anymore. Take him to a no-kill shelter, or find him a new home.

I really think you need to bring him in though...pets are supposed to be for life, not until they're no longer convenient. You said yourself he's not safe out there. See how he likes the balcony in the new place, dress it up with cat grass, it might be enough for him to feel like he still has outside, while he's safe actually living indoors (get him neutered too, takes away their desire to roam).

For the cat hair, brush him daily and he won't shed so much. For the allergies, don't let him sleep in your bed. It's not the cat hair people are allergic to, it's their dander. Get him his own blanket or two for him to use on the floor or on the furniture and wash them often. If that doesn't help, there are a lot of good over the counter allergy meds out there.

Do you have any yard area that is yours at this condo? If you do there are cat enclosures that will allow your cat to be outside in comfort and safety - cats find them great too. It will keep your cat safe from the other cats, cars and keep your apartment hair free. You maybe able to convert the balcony area or similar. I have put in a link so that you can see what I mean. Hope this helps.

Yeah, it's time to decide if you really want the cat or not. It should be neutered, come inside and be brushed regularly. If you can't do that, you don't "have" a cat.

Somehow, you have to show it that you moved.

That might take awhile, but
if you and your family pick him up and take him to the outside of your new door & feed him there enough, after awhile he may get it.

If he is used to living outside only, don't worry about him.
Check on him regularly and give him attention as often as possible.
Hope this helps.

what are you feeding your cat? feed it quality food and brush him daily and you won't have as much of a problem.
