Not so much a joke, more a boring story that never seems to end - rather like Earth. Never ending ! ! !

if somebody tells you you have most likely some dangerous disease and you have to take an expensive evil tasting medicine in order to survive, you probably wouldn't buy this either and rather die?
Just because you may not experience personal symptoms yet, it wouldn't mean you aren't sick. You can have cancer and not realize it for quite a while. If you realize it by yourself it is probably too late to treat and then you'll whine why nobody told you before, when there was still the possibility to cure you.
About rocket and bomb tests: nobody ever claims that policians are well meaning, far sighted and intelligent people, whose only aim in life is to serve others. If they were, the world would look indeed different.

You're spot on - we are probably just trying to make ourselves feel better n these things will not make a big difference. But it's no joke to the millions of environmental refugees that will loose their homes and even their lives in the next 50 years and beyond - when are we going to start thinking about looking after the people we share our planet with? When are polititions going to start actually solving problems instead of just dodgeing around them? 23,000 people die of hunger every day (according to the world food programme), yet if America stopped drinking beer and gave the grain to the 3rd world instead there would be enough food for every single one of them (not that I'm suggesting America give up beer but it just highlights how rubbish we are at looking after each other!). When is a life going to be more important than the economy? If this was something that we (the general public) could solve then charities would've done it by now - it's up to the government to stop trying to make us feel guilty and focus on the real problems. So yeah - you're right - who cares about energy saving bulbs - climate change is happening, what we need to do is deal with it - stop the bombs and feed the people!

Yes! Global warming is the result of the suns lunar activity and not down to man.

Man has an energy production problem.... We have come to the point where consumption is starting to out strip production, which is, if you look at it, not good for business.

Logically, economies cannot grow indefinitely as those in power would like you to believe. They must contract at some point. Once an economy has reached it's consumption/production ratio limit the only thing you can do is cut back on waistage, but this is just buying time.

It's an age old problem, energy production cost energy. You cannot produce more energy that you exert. What man needs is an inexhaustible energy supply.

you are quite right Rusty,
the earth has been warming up since the last ice age.
the most logical scientists all agree.
the ones that say it is all down to humans are probably
on the payroll of government's,
50 years ago we were told that if they didn't stop cutting down the Brazilian rain forests then Europe would now be a desert!
the earth is self healing after global warming the will be another mini ice age.like you iam fed up with the likes of Blair brown , and now the "plank" Cameron spouting on about global warming i am going fishing in the nice warm sunshine
john redwood for pm at last politician with sense.

We still are in an ice age, thats why theres ice at the south and north of us.I watched that programe on ch4 other day and it all seems to point to solar flares ( or sumit like that) and there increased activity. And also it said that humans were only to blame for 0.5% of co2 anyways

I think we all need to get real on this and realise we are all being taken for a ride by the green brigade.
All the tree huggers of the world think they can now justify their great unwashed existence.Meanwhile the eco-lobby amongst politicians can become saintly and great by telling us we're all doomed unless we ditch cars, planes and central heating and will no doubt be seen planting trees and cycling everywhere.Meanwhile the rest of government can use it as an excuse to tax us on everything we buy,use ,drink, eat or breathe.
We are being CONNED.
Buy a big car ,fly often and screw them all!

Some say it's an excuse for the UK government to get nuclear power which would be needed for electric cars. Apparently global warming is natural and occurs just like the ice age. Blame it on Mother Nature!
