I know this sounds like one of those stupid questions some of these people ask, but this is truly a serious question. Every now and then, my male poodle will hunch on my or my daughter's leg, especially if one of us is menstruating. He has also tried to hunch on small children, especially toddlers. He is 7 years old and has never been fixed. Will neutering him help this problem?

When I was a kid I had a female dog that did the same thing and when we had her spayed she quite doing that.
Even female dogs can have this disgusting habit. Until you have your dog fixed you should work on his bad behavior and not allow this dominant action toward young children.
I found this list of benefits for neutering dogs at Vetinfo4dogs website on Canine Neutering:
These are the most commonly mentioned benefits, by veterinarians, of
castration in dogs:
Decreased aggression
Decreased urine marking
Decreased roaming
Reduction in benign prostrate hypertrophy
Reduction in prostatic infections
Elimination of testicular cancer
Less chance of being hit by cars and shot by angry
female dog owners

Neuter him. That will definately stop the problem, it's the only reason he's doing it. Imagine it you had the ability to have sex and had all the hormones flushing around but you weren't allowed to. That wouldn't be very nice. It's kinder to neuter the dog plus what happens if he gets out and mates with another dog? There are already hundreds of dogs in the world needing homes. Don't add any more to the number.

It is a dominance thing. Getting him neutered might help, but at his age the behavior is already ingrained so you are going to also have to do some behavior modification.
When he starts to hump, correct him by saying "no" in a low voice and physically removing him from your leg if you have to. Then redirect his attention by having him sit, or any obedience or trick he knows. If he doesn't having any obedience training it is not too late to teach him, and it will help you enforce your position as the leader.
Feel free to send me a message if you have anymore questions.

It will help, as he won't have all that testosterone floating around inside him,
another reason he is doing is to dominate the children
It would be a good idea to do NILIF training with him and also for your daughter to participate under supervision of an adult

Yes desexing your male dog will certainly help reduce the urge he has to do this.
There is an injection / implant called superlorin creats a chemical castration and lasts 12 months, you could try this and if it owrks then castrate your dog.
