We would intervene. Not necessarily with massive amounts of troops, but with naval and air power. We would also probably send special operations into Taiwan to help bolster defences and help the Taiwanese defend their island with asymetric warfare. China may gain the island, but at too high of a cost in blood and treasury. That is why I don't forsee China overtaking Taiwan with the military. They would be wiser to use economic incentives to attract Taiwan of their own free will.

USA has always been the police of the world.

Because China is communist and Taiwan strives to be Democratic the USA will intervene and protect Taiwan. Although USA will prevent any such war between either nations because China is a huge economic force which helps run USA. The majority of our imports are from China and because of this they cannot sever their relationship. Taiwan is a major industry provider in electronics. The majority of electronics such as LCD's, notebooks, and computer hardware is produced in Taiwan. So both countries are worth keeping for economic and political reasons. But again they will not support communism over democracy.

Again USA has already intervened when China aimed their missiles at Taiwan. The USA Navy was sent to protect Taiwan during this time.

btw: Taiwan was never part of China as a nation. It was always independent and currently they hold a democratic voting system and economy.

Does Taiwan has oil, or something profitable for the US economy ? If yes, they may use it as excuse to control Taiwan, otherwise, US won't fight with China, because China have a number extremely high of solders and they invest a good amount of money in the military. I think, even if US hasn't lost the numbers of solders already lost in the Iraq war, it would loose a War with China, even thou US has more technology. China has more population and much more self determination than American solders.
Don't buy the idea that US is the Police of the world because its not, they only use this excuse when they want to get advantage of something. Do you remember about the Vietnam War ?

If China threatening Taiwan would cause any sort of danger to the United States (or if it seems like it) than we would defend Taiwan. Also, if Taiwan is a democracy, than we would defend their freedom and attack China. Although, the outcome will be much worse (I.E. An Atom War)

YES, but in a limited fashion. US has acknowledge Taiwan is part of CHina, but they have intervened in the pass. US would probably threaten harsh action against Taiwan if they do decide to seperate to scare them off. US is pretty mad at Taiwan for its current rhetoric. I think this is the main reason for the CHinese military build up and fear of the US. US knows we can't win because China would throw everything they got to reclaim Taiwan and American troops can't prevent China from laying waste of Taiwan with their missiles. China may not be able to invade Taiwan at this point, and it is far from being able to, but If I was in charge, I would evacuate Taiwan. There missiles may be accurate, but so was our missiles that hit the CHinese Embassy a while back.

it would be counted on what grounds is China invading Taiwan. i do no longer think of the U. S. can combat a conflict on 2 distinctive seashores. And China does no longer declare conflict on the U. S.. Why ought to they? the U. S. is borrowing money from China. Why might China desire to provide up that?

this is very good question and one that is very likely to happen... USA won't be the only country to intervene...the UN will intervene too.... this will eventually cause a lot of stire in the east pacific... things will get ugly.. countries around China like Korea and Japan will start to question if they will be the next on the China's list......

Yes. Taiwan is a historical ally of the US and a sister democracy, and the United States is committed by law to aiding her should she be invaded by the Chinese.
