Be careful what advice you take. Use common sense and remember that tension in your muscles is never good for your voice. Some people will tell you to do really strange things to sing "correctly". Vocal chords are not made to be pressured by other muscles. Think of an open window with strings strung where the breeze can blow through and create music. The strings are your vocal chords, and the breeze is your natural breath. Your stomach should go in smoothly when you sing as you keep air flowing past your vocal chords. Your mouth should open naturally to allow the sound to come out and your tongue should be behind your teeth and not blocking the air coming out of your throat. That is a very superficial explanation, but just remember that it should never feel strained or painful. Singing is natural as breathing. If you think that trying someone's advice feels hard on your throat don't do it. Take care of your voice. It's the only one you have. Good luck. I wish you the very best.

Learn as much as you can about the voice and how it works...and how to take care of it. Warm ups and Warm downs are very important.

The best out there is Mark Baxter. He has an FAQ page and his own site. URL's below. On his site you will also find Free Singing Lessons. Once you start reading you will realize that he knows what he's talking about...

Hope these helps

If you're going to immigrate anywhere to sing, come to CANADA! Our conservatory of music is much better than that of the USA. Their level 5 is equivalent to our (Canada's) level 3. Meaning, we are far more advanced musically then any Americans. And, our leader is less stupid than George Bush, you won't have any problem immigrating here, and we are a country of PEACE. And it's beautiful here eveyrwhere you go.
