Yes.
When you're going through MEPS, there's a lot of stupid paperwork and examinations you have to undergo, but then they lead you into a back room, line you up, and you raise your right hand and take an oath to defend your country.
There's no prouder moment.

It is not a lame question. I was not very excited to join the military as it was really my parent's idea. But once I got in I loved it. You will get in the best shape of your life. You will eat everything in sight and still lose weight. You will learn things beyond your wildest imagination, and pushed to limits you didn't even think you can meet. You will succeed and you will have a sense of self worth you didn't have before you started this adventure. (This is bootcamp). After you have been trained you will have a really good job that you love. You will meet a lot of wonderful people. You will see a lot of wonderful things. This is a great decision. And thank you for serving.

Mate,
it is NOT a lame question. I was excited before i went to bootcamp... mainly caus i was leaving home, and onto a journey that woud benefit my country and me.
Its normal to be excited, its a great feeling.
Enjoy it. It will be tough in the beginning, but you will get use to it. Let me tell you whats gona be the hardest part, but everybody gets over it... it is adaptation. You adapt to eveything new around you. New people, new foods, new clothing, new bathroom conditions (hardest for me because i have some OCD) but even i adapted.
HOORAH, i thank you for your service!!!

excited nervous scared yeah all of the above. but on graduation day you feel pride in yourself you will never feel again. next best to that is after you get out with the honorable discharge. knowing you are a vet and can stand proudly amongst all the other vets. that will last the rest of your life.

It's normal to be nervous. I was nervous as all hell the day I shipped for basic. My recruiter said I was actually freakin her out. I was also nervous the day I deployed, but it's not that bad. Just make sure you talk to a recruiter from every branch and make sure joining is your decision and not the recruiter's.

Yes I was. I enjoyed it throughly.
I'm telling you from personal experience that it is truly what you make of it. Do the best job that you can. Stay away from office politics. And travel, travel, travel!
It's normal to be nervous. But aren't we all nervous when we commence one activity to begin something new?

Anddawww, you claim to be a Marine but you can't spell Marine CORPS. And a real Marine would never write that word with a small m. Gee, wonder why I don't believe you?

I hated it for the first 4 months then I totally fell in love with the service...lots of politics but you learn to love your friends and treat them like family. Also wear the uniform proud.
