I don't know much about the Women's Studies category... but as far as R&S goes, it's kind of the nature of the beast.
There is no need for some people to be so nasty, but if you ask a question about religion in a public internet forum, you are bound to get opinions from many people who disagree with your chosen religion on principle. If you don't want dissenting opinions on a religious question, you are better off asking your pastor, preacher, rabbi, etc. (Again, I realize some answerers are just being mean to be mean... but many of them disagree vehemently, and that's not the same thing.)
