Take a planter urn, something like this (just an example of the shape):

Fill it almost to the top with sand.
Fill it the rest of the way with glass rocks such as these:

Top it with a glass table top.

How about a 2 drawer wooden filing cabinet with a throw over it, not only does it work for a table, but you can store and hide your personal files in it.

Find an old doll house, frame the sides and place glass over the frame.
