I was discussing with my Spanish professor that I wanted to attend graduate school in Spain but was unsure how to fund it. She is from Spain and she said that if I applied for duel citizenship, after a few years Spain would pay for my education like a native born citizen. Is this true? Would I have to renounce my U.S. citizenship? Would I need to work in the country for a few years first? How many years would it take?

Duel citizenship comes with pros and cons. Pros - you can travel freely back and forth between the two countries. No you do not have renounce your US citizenship. And your teacher may know what she is talking about with regards to having your education paid for after a few years.

Cons - if you work and live in both countries off and on you will have to pay income taxes for both countries as well.

Do an engine search for "Spain Residency Requirements" You're likely to find the Spain Government site that will have all the information you're looking for. Usually under FAQ's

In most countries you are treated the same if you are naturalized or born in the country. It usually takes quite awhile to get citizenship though.

Keichii and Mindy gave you great solutions. i will purely upload particular. i be attentive to of a brother (not sure what u . s . a . he become from) who became a naturalized citizen of Israel. he's no longer purely a honest brother, yet very energetic in community provider alongside with giving jobs and coaching to youths to maintain them out of violence and such (non JW as plenty or extra effective than JW as that's no longer this form of problem for us with our non secular coaching). i think of there are particularly some JWs who've become naturalized electorate international huge after fleeing from violence, shifting the place the will is extra effective, etc. And once you marry in the time of national lines, you straight away become a citizen of yet another u . s . a . (with none oath technique or coaching/study). Debbie
