Change your resolution and color depth.

Right click on your desktop
Properties
Settings
Increase your screen resolution and color depth
close

If this doesn't work right click "my computer"
properties
hardware
device manager
display adapter

make sure that there is not a yellow check on your display adapter or that when you open it it does not say VGA adapter. If it does have either of the two then you need to install drivers for your video card. If windows doesn't have drivers it will install the default VGA settings as all video cards will run that. (safe mode driver).

Hope this helps

Your screen resolution or colour mode has probably been changed, right-click the desktop and go into Properties, Settings (tab). Drag the screen resolution slider towards "more" to fit more on-screen.

Also on that tab, is "colour quality", it should be on something like "highest" in order to display properly. If you don't have such options under the dropdown box, then your monitor/graphics card drivers aren't installed.
