My cousin who used to cut herself told my step niece about it & thought she could trust & confide in her & tell her about it, & my step niece used it against her negatively, saying that my cousin just wanted some attention, which was not true.

Yes, that's why I don't talk about my personal life too much. I found out the hard way most people are not to be trusted with such information. Nothing hurts worse than when someone who your thought was close to you turns on you and uses confidential information to cause you pain.

And nothing is more invalidating than when someone reaches out for help and is dismissed and brushed aside. I hate that when people accuse others of "just wanting some attention", it's just another way to invaildate the person.

Well yes you have to be very careful in who you tell about you mental health problems, that is why they have therapist, they are not suppose to be negative with you at all , they are there to help and guild you. Now some friends can do that, but you really should be sure who you are tell what to. It is too bad, that your cousins step niece is doing that to her, i would say that she was not a good person to be telling anything too.

Yes, sometimes you find out the hard way that someone is not on your side even though you thought they were. Be careful who you tell your secrets to I guess.

Yes, it really sucks. Shame on people being so self-absorbed they can't be kind to others and compassionate. They will learn one day. It's just not their time right now to be more open and like you.

Yes. Sometimes in the moment you don't know who to look to. And then there are times you reach out and put yourself out there and it gets kicked back in your face. Which just makes you push it further down into your soul.
