Okay call me old fashioned and believe me I was raised in an old fashioned family. Ummm... if your child smacks you in the face you pop her back, show her that it hurts and that she shouldn't do it. My 3 year old had a problem with biting at one time and after I started biting him back he quit after the 3rd or 4th time of me biting him. Explaining that it hurts and showing that it hurts are two different things. And I'm not saying "*****" smack her like they do on the soap operas. Just a little pop on the cheek to sting just a little {practice on your thigh or arm to get the feeling} and after a couple of times she should stop hitting anyone in the face all together.

If she slaps you ... take hold of her hand firmly (NOT hard), look into her eyes and say "No, ouch"! If she does it again ... repeat above and put her down. More than likely, she'll be mad you put her down ... but, don't give in and pick her up. If you keep doing this every time she tries to poke or slap, she'll catch on quite quickly that you won't tolerate her aggressiveness. Hope this helps ... :)

Whenever my 2 year old would get rough at that age I would tell her that we need to use our "nice hands" (I know it sounds corny, but it works!), that Mommy loves her very much and knows that she loves Mommy, and we don't hurt the people that we love. You may have to show her exactly what you mean by nice hands (stroke her face gently) but it shouldn't take too long for her to get the idea. Good luck!
