These are my childrens favourite tv shows:
Max aged 6: Spongebob Squarepants (i like spongebob too!) and Fairly Odd Parents
Mia aged 3: Dora the Explorer and Blues Clues
Anna and Dylan aged 6 months: Spongebob, Max sits there and explains whats happening on it to them, its so cute, they normally not interested in the tv anyway.
The shows that i prohibit are:
The Simpsons
Teletubbies
Family Guy

Thomas the Train and Sponge Bob. As for Barney most preschoolers outgrow him. But he does teach family values. Your children could be watching a lot worst then Barney.

My daughter was too old for Barney when he "burst" onto the scene and at 21 she doesn't tend to watch too much children's television now LOL. She did used to like BeetleJuice, and before his arrest took him off the air Pee Wee's Play House what I've seen lately though (The Wiggles, The Doodlebobs) seem a bit obnoxious to me.

Sesame Street or most of Playhouse Disney, ESPECIALLY Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (you can't pry our daughter away from that show!).
We don't watch Barney (he annoys us) or Dora the Explorer (the sheer fact that she's EVERYWHERE is annoying), but she DOES really like Handy Manny and is starting to pick up a VERY few words of Spanish from Manny. (neither of us speak it, so it's cool that she knows some, adds to the German she's learning from her Daddy's side of the family!)
We don't watch much TV, though she's seen bits of various shows, and our only "have to's" are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Star Trek: The Next Generation. (she likes Data and Geordi La Forge hehe)

I'm with you! No Barney in my house! No Teletubbies either-they're creepy. My child's favorite shows are (in this order):
1. SpongeBob (she calls him BobBob)
2. Blue's Clues
3. Thomas & Friends (she just discovered this one a couple days ago and she loves it!)
4. anything Elmo
5. Boohbah
That's usually the order. It changes sometimes depending on the mood she's in. Sometimes she's in the mood for trains, sometimes she's in the mood to dance so I put on Blue's Clues. There's lot of music in that and she just loves to dance to it.

Go Wonder-pets!!!! LoL The song is so catchy and the little duck Ming Ming is so cute! My husband was singing the teamwork song at work today and got everyone else singing it when they've never seen the show!
I have a thing against the Doodlebops - cant stand them!!!!!! They look freaky, their songs suck and are prolly plagiarised like Barneys! Yuck yuck yuck!!!! LoL

And we prohibit The Simpsons and anything in prime time with a "Parental Discretion Advised" warning. If they have to say that, I don't want my kids watching!

In our house its spongebob,fairly odd parents,wonderpets,pinky dinky doo,pokemon,kim possible and Lilo ans Stitch.Those are the 4 year olds favorites. My 8 year old prefers teen nick, Zoey 101,Drake & Josh, Hannah Montanna,Suite life.
They aren't alowed to watch the sinpsons or south park.
