I have been grooming dogs for 4 years. Today, I groomed a dog named Scooter, a Lhasa Apso. In the past, I tried to reach into the cage to pick him up before he was set to go home. I knew he was cage shy because he started smiling at me. So I got a temporary lead to put around his neck and I had a scare. He tried to bite my hand off. When I succeeded in pulling him out with the lead, he attacked again, missing my hand by inches. I was sad and upset at the same time.

Today, I groomed Scooter with no problem. The only thing different was that I didn't put him in the cage...I groomed him straight through. Scooter was a perfect dog and didn't bite me at all.

What was up with that?

For future reference, please give me an answer in how to take out a cage shy dog. Thanks!

How would you feel if someone just picked you up and put you into a cage, then they wet and wash you. You have to look at it from the perspective from the dog. They have feelings and they have good and bad days the same as you.
