I study the Bible and believe in a god, but I am not a Christian or religious. When I started studying the Bible I was a Christian, but things just didn't add up. Today, I have come to the realization that the Bible is mostly absurd and much is lifted from other religions. If you really study the Bible, not just read it, but study it and it's history, I don't see how you can come to any other conclusion.

Interesting statement, I can see exactly where you are coming from...

You have actually mentioned several different issues here:

Firstly if you believe in the Bible, have faith in God for your salvation etc then, just like in those in the Bible, you will be called a Christian, nothing wrong with that.

Secondly you have actually gone right to the very heart of things by not wanting to be part of religion, this is something that people who are not 'Christian' cannot grasp, Christianity in its true sense is not a religion but an individual one to one relationship with God.

Generally speaking when people speak of the 'Christian religion' they tend to think of different denominations, or different countries that are labelled Christian, but in reality are far from Christian and give the wrong impression of Christianity, this is why Gandhi said something like "I like your Jesus, but I don't like His followers" (not a word for word quote, but close enough).

So could I encourage you to keep doing what you are doing, keep away from religion, having said that it is good to meet with other people who think the same, believe the same, the Bible would tell us to do that eg Hebrews 10:25.

Because most people who study the Bible and believe in God are religious - usually Christian or Jewish.

Not everyone really agrees on anything, but do you choose not to work because of this, or not to live in a city or town, or not to have friends because of this?

Prayer, faith and the Bible are important but the Bible tells us "not to forsake the gathering with the brethren". Other believers can help to keep us accountable, encourage and help us. We can do the same for them. Worshiping God with others can also be an awesome experience.

Jesus said in John that if you don't believe Moses - the first 5 books of the Bible - then you CAN NOT believe in Jesus.

So - to know trust or believe in Jesus you must study the Bible.

Why must you be a Christian to study it? Paul says that the natural man cannot understand the things of the spirit. That is to say a non believer cannot understand the Bible's truths. Paul says man can't understand God by science or by religion or by philosophy.

Jesus said to Nicodemus ( a religious man) - unless a man is born again he can not SEE the kingdom of God.

Not everyone will see, read, know, understand, or believe. Only those whom the Father has given Jesus can. Those are called the elect - the chosen.

So - to understand the Bible you must know Jesus. To know Jesus you must understand the Bible. To do both = you must be chosen by God who makes you able to believe in Jesus so you can be born again so you can understand the Bible.

I know what you're saying and I do agree with you. You can believe whatever you want. "Christian" is just a label. Most people feel the need to put everyone in a box and categorize them. You don't have to call yourself anything. You don't have the problem, the people who demand you affiliate yourself with a certain religion have the problem. Ignore 'em.

i thik it's a reasonable assumption if you say bible you are referring to the same bible christians refer to. Which happens to profess a faith in Jesus. If you are not meaning a Christian bible ten it may help to specify which book you are referring to and which religion. This may help ease yours and others frustration.

So how on this earth do you get ordained if you don't have religion? And what's the purpose of being an ordained "priestess" if you don't have a congregation? You are either very deceptive or very confused.

BTW - prayer, faith and the bible? that is religion in anyone's view.

You said: "my faith is in god, Jesus, and the bible".

That makes you a christian. That's your religion. It's as simple as that.
