My grandma lived to be 97, two mo. shy of her 98th birthday.
She stayed as active as she could, I think that played a big part
(she also didn't drink or smoke)
She died of Cancer , liver and pancreatic cancer.

The Bible never gives an average life span, nor does it have enough information to offer a guess.
My grandfather right now is 98 and still healthy. He'll easily cross 100 barring accidents.
Most of my other relatives lived beyond 90 and all had the same reasons: we are healthy people with no life-threatening vices.
People will tell you all sorts of things, and I think they're bogus. My family has done nothing to live longer, we just haven't done anything to die sooner.
For my own part, I haven't been hospitalized (ever), and I've never had a sickness beyond the flu and the childhood routine (like chicken pox). This is likely the reason for my family's longevity. (My siblings are all the same.)

If you have read genisis and exodus then you would see that people lived to be between 400 and 800. Check out how long Noah lived for. From praying and my churchs doctrine I have come to understand that the world is in the latter days and life has been shortened because we are growing nearer to the end. This is a dirty world look around. Beyond what we are doing to the earth look at all the sin. Things are changing very fast. Look at the natural disasters and how many people are dying at once. There are prophesy of these things in revelations and the book of mormon. If I were you I would check out www.lds.com or www.mormon.org. These will help you answer some of your ?'s.
God Bless

Adam and Eve lived till they where 900..
Then what ws a year back then. We have traced the average age of death through archeology and the study of remains. The fact is our life spans are getting longer and longer. This is through medicine and our living conditions having improved so much. Maybe in the centuries to come we will get an average lifespan of 100 then 110 120 etc etc. Its all down to how long we can keep our bodies functioning and supplying oxygen to the brain. As long as we can do this science is already finding ways to produce body parts. Once this technology is achieve who knows how long we can live.

The primary way to extend life is to keep breathing. The second is to be very lucky. The third is to have the right genes. There are smokers, drinkers, libertines and even grouches who live very long lives (not statistically but it happens). The "perfect" diet, exercise and moral code doesn't exist. (What if we found out that reading the Bible was hazardous to your health?) The important thing is not how long you live but how you use the time you have right now.

Uh...I guess it would be luck. Some people smoke & drink and live long lives. Some people get cancer at 20 and die. There's no receipe to living a long life. Some people die young despite living a healthy lifestyle or whatever. It's a luck of the draw for some I suppose.

They probably don't read the bible. The average age for today is in the 80's, time for you to come out of the bible belt.
longevity today is based on better eating habits, better doctors, better excercise. It is not a spiritual thing.
