I have a Viper alarm, and what seems like just your average remote.

It has an arm button (which not only arms the alarm but also locks the doors), and a disarm button, which also unlocks the doors, and also a panic button.

The only thing that works is the disarm button. The arm button wont work, nor will the panic.

Is this something that can be fixed, or do I just need to buy a new remote?

It's not the battery...I actually recently got a new battery.

I have tried reprogramming it a few times, and either that is not the problem or I'm just not doing it right

My guess is that you have worn or damaged contacts inside the remote. You can purchase a new on at http://www.directedstore.com/cgi-bin/commerce.exe?search=action&category=E_TR&keywords=all , or you can use that site to identify your remote then shop for a new one one eBay.

the problem is only the switch open the remove and clean it
if that don't work you need to replace the switch

you need to solder a new switch if you have 3 or 4 buttons change it for 1 that you don't use remember the lock button is the one that u use the most and that is the reason why is giving you problems

if you can not do any of this send your remove to autotechs.com
they will fix it for $20.00
good luck

u might have to reprogram it, its a fun little thing to do, get the manual and follow the directions, you'll need to be in ur drivers seat....Access to Valet button, ignition, and pressing buttons on ur remote :) or go to the place that installed it for you...NOTE: The place that did it for you gives you a new remote for free, most of the times, most shops I worked at do this

How bout the battery? It may be going dead on you, or as you say the remote has taken its toll, Have you dropped it at all?

Sounds like a glitch. You could try re programming it. Otherwise you could probably send it back to the company and get a new one if you haven't had it that long. they should be able to send you a new one or fix it for you.
