Weird audible sensation in my neck?

i keep feeling these weird twinges in the back of my neck (at the base of my skull) and they are audible, kind of like a squishy noise. it almost feels like my spinal cord. it's not painful, just an odd feeling. what could it be? i was thinking nerve damage but hopefully someone could be a bit more specific. (im a 23 year old female, if that's of any consequence.)

Could be a bit of Bursitis in the capsule surrounding the neck bone where it joins the skull. Bursitis can sound like sand when you move a joint.
It is not a problem to be concerned about.
